Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your stay at Trout Lodge On Rock Creek in Twin Falls, Idaho.

What makes Trout Lodge different from other vacation rentals in Twin Falls?

We're a private 1.5-acre property on the edge of Rock Creek Canyon — not a condo complex or a subdivision house. Both units have their own private hot tub, fire pit, and outdoor space with canyon and countryside views. The property is just 7 minutes from downtown Twin Falls and 10 minutes from Shoshone Falls, but it feels like you're miles from everything. Guests tell us it's the perfect balance of seclusion and convenience, and they regularly come back.

Are pets allowed?

Absolutely — we're a pet-friendly property and welcome dogs and cats. About one in four of our guests bring their pets, and many choose us specifically because of our pet policy. There's a $50 pet fee per pet, with a maximum of 2 pets per unit (3 if you book the whole lodge). The property has 1.5 acres of outdoor space with easy yard access for your animals.

Do the cabins have hot tubs?

Every unit has its own private hot tub — it's not shared. Unit 1 also includes a private sauna. Both units have fire pits. If you book the whole lodge, you get both hot tubs, the sauna, and all outdoor amenities. Soaking in the hot tub under the stars with canyon views is the thing our guests mention most in reviews.

Is there privacy between the two units?

Yes. This is a duplex, but it's designed for privacy. There's a 15-foot insulated wall between the units with excellent soundproofing. Each unit has its own private entrance, parking area, hot tub, fire pit, and outdoor space. The only shared areas are the driveway coming in and some non-adjacent acreage. When guests in both units are unrelated, most never see or hear each other.

Can we rent the entire property for a group?

Absolutely. Our Both Units option combines both cabins into a single 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom whole-lodge rental that sleeps up to 10 guests. You get the full 1.5-acre property to yourselves — both private hot tubs, the sauna, all fire pits, and canyon views. It's popular for family reunions, friend trips, wedding prep, anniversaries, and small celebrations.

Is this a good spot for a special occasion?

We think so — and our guests agree. We've hosted birthday surprises, anniversary getaways, honeymoons, wedding party prep, and "just need a night away from the kids" escapes. The combination of hot tubs, fire pits, canyon views, and quiet seclusion makes it a natural fit. If you're celebrating something, let us know — we love being part of it.

Is there a minimum age to book?

We generally require the primary guest to be 21 or older. We occasionally make exceptions for younger travelers — we just ask for a bit of background about your trip so we can make sure it's a good fit for the property.

What about parties or events?

We do not permit parties when there are guests in the other unit — this is a duplex and we want every guest to have a peaceful experience. If you book the whole lodge (Both Units), we can sometimes accommodate small gatherings depending on the details. Just reach out before booking and we'll work with you.

Are there cameras on the property?

There are no cameras inside the home. There are exterior cameras facing the parking area for security purposes, which is standard and disclosed in the listing.

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is at 3:00 PM and checkout is at 11:00 AM. We're flexible within reason — early check-in and late checkout are often possible depending on the schedule that day. Just ask ahead of time and we'll do our best. Many of our guests arrive from long road trips, and we try to accommodate whenever we can.

Is there parking for trucks and trailers?

Yes. The property has pull-through parking with room for trailers, boats, and larger vehicles. No tight turnarounds or parallel parking. Each unit has its own designated parking area.

What's included in each unit?

Each unit is fully remodeled with a well-equipped granite kitchen (full-size oven, stovetop, refrigerator, coffee maker, blender, cookware, dishes, and spices), high-speed Wi-Fi, smart TV, quality linens and towels, a private hot tub, and a fire pit with firewood provided. Unit 1 also has a private sauna. We provide hot tub towels and basic toiletries. We don't subscribe to streaming services, but the smart TVs support logging into your own accounts (Netflix, Hulu, etc.).

Can we fish in Rock Creek from the property?

Rock Creek runs along the canyon below the lodge, and the views are stunning. However, direct access to the creek from the property is not available, as the adjacent land is privately owned. The good news is that Rock Creek Park is a short drive away with easy stream access, and the Snake River offers world-class fishing minutes from the lodge. Rainbow trout, brown trout, smallmouth bass, and even white sturgeon (catch-and-release) are all in the area. Check out our Things to Do page for more.

How far is Trout Lodge from Shoshone Falls?

Shoshone Falls is about 10 minutes by car — it's one of our favorite spots and many guests come to Twin Falls specifically to see it. At 212 feet, it's higher than Niagara Falls. Spring is the best time to catch peak flow. Dierkes Lake is right next to it for swimming, hiking, and rock climbing. Downtown Twin Falls and all its restaurants are about 7 minutes away.

Is Trout Lodge a good road trip stop?

We get a lot of road-trippers — Colorado to Oregon, Montana to California, cross-country trips between coasts. Twin Falls is a natural midpoint on I-84 and a far better overnight than a highway hotel. Guests regularly tell us they booked one night and wished they'd booked two. The hot tub after a long day of driving is hard to beat.

How do I book direct?

You can book directly through our website at troutlodgeonrockcreek.com. Direct bookings get our best rates with no platform service fees. We accept credit cards, PayPal, Venmo and Zelle.

What's the cancellation policy?

We use a moderate cancellation policy for standard reservations and a firm policy for long-term stays. Full details are provided during the booking process.

What do I need to do at checkout?

Just lock the door and send us a message when you leave — that's it. Running the dishwasher or gathering towels is always appreciated but never required. We handle the rest.
